Thalasso Spa

Among the main areas of expertise in the spa industry that we focus on with special interest and great passion is the Thalasso spa. This type of spa concentrates on the remedial and curative effects of sea water and sea derivatives such as algae, seaweed and sea mud through the traditional French treatments known as Thalassotherapy. They have been practiced in France since the nineteenth century. But the therapeutic, restorative and healing benefits of sea bathing and marine mud have long been recognized for thousands of years by the Egyptians, the Phoenicians, the Greeks and the Romans. In fact, the word Thalassotherapy originates from Greek (Thalassa means The Sea, and Therapeia means Healing). Thalassotherapy not only helps in relaxation but also eases the symptoms of ageing boosts wellness, relieves stress, has a detox effect, reduces cellulite and generally helps to rejuvenate the body, mind and soul.
The Oceans and the seas are the origins of life, and mankind carries this marine signature within. There is a fundamental connection that links the ocean to human life. The oceans cover 70% of the earth’s surface, just like 70% of the human body consists of water. The French biologist René Quinton was the first to highlight the similarity between the composition of seawater and our internal fluids as if our cells had reproduced around them this original marine environment from which they are derived, and which is essential to their metabolism. Furthermore, and contrary to popular belief, the leading producer of oxygen on earth is not the forest but phytoplankton, which produce two-thirds of the oxygen we breathe.
In the Thalasso spa, there is usually a wide variety of facilities including thermal rooms, saunas, steam baths, relaxation rooms, Vichy showers, and general treatment rooms. But the most important facility that must be available in the Thalasso spa is the Thalasso Hydromassage Pool, or simply the Hydropool, which features various animations of pressured water jets and air bubble pads in heated seawater. Over the years we have become specialists in the design and execution of highly sophisticated and fully automated Hydropools, and we cooperated in joint ventures with French and German expert companies for advanced technical support and operational management of Thalasso spas.
